Thomas J. Powell

Banker & Financier

Tom’s entrepreneurial career in banking and finance began in 1988 in Silicon Valley. Over the past three-and-a-half decades, Tom has developed extensive experience in capital-raising for early-stage startups, private equity, commercial banking, alternative asset management, international business law, and asset protection.

Since 2008, Tom has served as a senior advisor at The Brehon Group — a boutique international consulting firm and public policy think-tank — where he draws on his background in banking, securities law, compliance, and negotiations to creatively and effectively guide clients in scaling their businesses in the global market. Tom is highly proficient in modeling asset protection measures through proven strategies, ensuring clients can safeguard their wealth while navigating complex business and legal environments.

Currently a doctoral candidate in law and policy at Northeastern University, Tom earned a Master of Legal Studies from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, an MBA from Marylhurst University, and completed Harvard University’s advanced real estate development management program (ADMP), where he also served as a lecturer. Tom is also co-founder of 6 Secrets of Raising Startup Capital — a fundraising toolbox for small business owners.
